About Us

The provisional Rotary Club of Payyanur was inaugurated on 25th October 1985 by Rtn. K.P. Ganeshan, Past District Governor from Mangalore. The provisional club was admitted to Rotary International on 11th March 1986 and the Charter was Presented by the then District Governor Rtn. P.N. Gopal of RI Dist 320 Our Club was Sponsored by Rotary Club of Nileshwar.

The Club started with 20 charter members and Rtn. Adv. Umamaheshwara Iyer was the Charter President. During the early years, our club functioned at Radha clinic of our veteran charter member, Rtn. Dr. U.V. Shenoy and moved on to our own building Rotary Bhavan in the year 1995. The club owns much of its development to the efforts made by Dr.U.V.Shenoy and the club Charter Members. Our club meet on every Tuesday at 7.45 pm at William Cable Memorial Hall, Rotary Bhavan, Keloth, Payyanur. At present, we have 82 members on its roll and occupy a prominent position in the Socio-cultural scene of Payyanur. All the Past Presidents are very active and guide the office bearers in an exemplary manner.

The classifications are well represented in our club and all our members are dedicated Rotarians. In the long course of 30 years, the club has contributed Four Major Donors, two Benefactors, Nineteen Multiple Paul Harris Fellows, Fifty-Five Paul Harris Fellows, and a number of District Officers. Another creditable achievement for our club is that our own past President Rtn. V.G. Nayanar was the District Governor of RI Dist 3202 in our Silver Jubilee year 2010-11. Our official publication “PARROLINES” is published very regularly every month and has received District Award and the National Award in the All India Best Bulletin Competition instituted by Rotary News Trust, in the Rotary year 2009-2010.
